CUBA, January 30, 2009. Art and education power are on the table Friday of the last day of the 11th Congress "Pedagogia 2009," where participants analyzed alienating practices to foster globalization. Theoretical sessions will close with a dialogue among delegates and several Cuban academics and artists attending this biennial event, led by Culture Minister Abel Prieto. Parallel to this congress is the symposium "Art, education and culture," which analyzed in the last few days the possible universalization of certain education experiences in arts field. Participants in the event will learn today on the case of the Marta Machado artistic brigade, which toured some Cuban communities recently devastated by three hurricanes. The Venezuelan delegation will also present several conferences on the implementation of several programs to encourage the habit of reading as a way of human and political growth. Participants in the event asked for attention to parents and teachers, although warned the system demanded structural changes to facilitate training of future men and women. Other figures also praised the role of education and Pedagogy to foster the ALBA and the Latin American and Caribbean integration. (Cubaminrex- PL)
