CURRICULUM VITAE

Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla

Born on January 22, 1958 in Mexico City.

He was President of the Secondary School Students’ Federation (FEEM) and member of the National Secretariat of the University Students’ Federation (FEU).

He has a degree in Law and has worked as professor of International Public Law at the University of Havana.

In 1986, he was elected Secretary of International Affairs of the National Bureau of the Young Communist League (UJC).

In 1991, he was appointed Director of the Juventud Rebelde newspaper.

He served in the Republic of Angola on an internationalist mission as officer in the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

Since 1990, he has been member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, in charge of this body’s cultural policy matters from 1992.

In December 1993, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, and in February of 1995, he was appointed Permanent Representative until December 2003.

Since that time he has been Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean and for information and communication.

In October 2004, he was appointed First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.

He was at the head of humanitarian medical missions to Haiti in 2004 and to Pakistan 2005-2006.

He has been the recipient of several national and foreign medals and recognitions.

He speaks English.

He is married, with one son.
