Cuba Exposes US-European Imperialism
CUBA , January 22, 2007.- Europe and the United States share similar intentions to dominate Third World markets and natural resources, though they seem to defer on some matters, warned a Cuban delegate to the 7th World Social Forum, held in Nairobi , Kenya over the weekend.
Ariel Dacal Diaz, from the Havana-based Martin Luther King Jr. Center pointed out that the imperialist philosophy is what dominates in Europe, which closely allies itself with Washington when it comes to defining its relations with poor countries.
The Cuban delegate participated on a panel about the role of Europe in militarization and neoliberalism, programmed as part of the more than 1,300 local initiatives being studied by the WSF that began Saturday in the Kenyan capital, Granma daily reported.
Another Cuban participant, jurist Dorys Quintana, asked for solidarity with the cause of the Cuban Five, imprisoned in the United States for fighting terrorism. She reported on the state of their appeal for justice.
Quintana also took advantage of the opportunity to meet with delegates from Tanzania to discuss human rights issues as well as with members of a panel dealing with the Israel-Palestinian situation. She expressed Cuba 's support for the Palestinian cause.
