By Ed Newman
INDONESIA, May 26, 2011.- The Palestine Committee of the Movement of Non-Aligned Nations has decided to implement a plan of action to recognize Palestine as a State and promote its membership in the United Nations.

During the Non-Aligned Movement's ministerial meeting in Bali, Indonesia, member countries resolved to “achieve just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East based on relevant UN resolutions, the Madrid Terms of Reference, land-for-peace and the Arab Peace Initiative in its entirety.”

Member nations also agreed to remain at the forefront of support for the Palestinian people to realize freedom, peace and justice, in line with the long-standing international consensus recognizing the Palestinian people as a nation.

The Non-Aligned declaration reads: “We are resolved to recognize their inalienable right to self-determination, with the achievement of the independence of the State of Palestine on the basis of the 4th of June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and a just solution to all other aspects of the question of Palestine."

Cuba's ambassador before the United Nations, Pedro Núñez Mosquera, said that Israel must respect international law and abide by the pertinent UN resolutions approved by the General Assembly, the United Nations Human Rights Council and the UN Security Council. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
