Cuba Laments that Advances for Increased Equality Do Not Meet International Expectations.
CUBA, March 3rd, 2011.- Cuban representative expressed appreciation for the International Year of Afro-Descendants before the Human Rights council of the United Nations, but also lamented the advances are far from the expectations established at the Durban Conference ten years ago.
During the sixteenth session of this organization, the Cuban delegate Luis Alberto Amorós mentioned that the meeting in the South African city was a transcendental landmark in the struggle for equality and human rights among all humans.
However, Amorós also pointed out that the established expectations have not been met in many cases, and new kinds of racism, discrimination, xenophobia, and intolerance continue to develop, which encourage the creation of racist, xenophobic, and anti immigrant associations and political parties.
