Ceremony to celebrate the 158th anniversary of Jose Marti’s birth held at the Cuban Embassy in Jamaica.

JAMAICA, February 9, 2011.- A moving ceremony to pay homage to Jose Marti on the occasion of the 158th anniversary of his birth was held at the Cuban Embassy, last Friday, January 28.
   
Members of the Association of Cubans Residents in Jamaica, members of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and officials of the Cuban State Mission in country, took part in the ceremony

Children from the Embassy laid a wreath at Jose Marti’s bust, read poems written by our National Hero and sent a message of solidarity with the Five Cuban antiterrorist fighters incarcerated in U.S jails.

The key remarks of the ceremony were delivered by Ambassador Yuri Gala Lopez who offered a brief historical outline of the life and work of José Marti. Micaela Ramirez, Minister Counselor at the Cuban Embassy, Aracelis Duffus and Osvaldo Cardenas, President and Vice-president, respectively, of the Association of Cubans Residents, as well as Sra. Imogine Reid, on behalf of the Cuba-Jamaica Friendship Association, also took the floor. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
