Fidel and Raul Castro Send Floral Wreaths in Honor of Jose Marti.
CUBA, May 19, 2011.- The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and President Raul Castro sent floral wreaths that were laid on Thursday in the mausoleum that keeps the mortal remains of National Hero Jose Marti at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery of the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba to commemorate the 116th anniversary of his death in combat.
The permanent guard of honor in the mausoleum was joined on the occasion by students from the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School of Bayamo and the Jose Marti Inter-Arms School of Havana, who laid the floral wreaths in the presence of students, workers and people of Santiago de Cuba.
Addressing participants in the ceremony, Marianela Duran, of the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School of Bayamo, said it was very encouraging for them to pay tribute to the National Hero, who showed with his ideas the independence path to the Cuban people.
In the central address of the ceremony, Rosa Amalia Castillo, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and provincial coordinator of the Committees in Defense of the Revolution in Santiago de Cuba, said that Marti continues to be an indispensable guide to strengthen the revolutionary project of the nation.
