Toronto tribute to José Martí in the 158 anniversary of his birth.

CANADA, January 31, 2011. - Organized by the Canadian Cuban Friendship Association of Toronto, on Saturday January 29, tribute was paid to the Cuban National Hero José Julián Martí y Pérez at the premises of the United Church in the center of the city, with the support of the Cuban Association of Toronto, "Juan Gualberto Gómez" and the presence of many friends. Both the president of the Canadian Association, Elizabeth Hill, the representative of the organization of Cuban residents, Julio Fonseca and the Consul General, Jorge Soberon, agreed on the importance and significance of Marti's ideas and example for all generations of Cubans. The event featured a special performance by resident Cuban musician Hilario Duran and renowned Canadian flutist Jane Bunnett and the contribution of the Cuban local band "Clave King", who performed traditional music of our country. During the activity, it was reaffirmed that the life and work of Martí are an essential pilar of the will of resistance, independence, internationalism and anti-imperialism that identifies the Cuban people.
