Press conference given by Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Felipe Pérez Roque
Minister_ We have summoned you to inform that, as from the meeting of the Latin America Commission of the European Union held last December 14 in Brussels, in which the EUCLA decided to renounce to invite the US-financed and sponsored mercenaries to the celebrations for the National Days of the European countries in Havana and starting from that decision that renounces to those invitations and also resumes the promotion of cultural contacts and the high level exchanges between the European Union and our country, Cuba has made the decision of resuming the official contacts with a number of Embassies of European countries in Havana. This group of countries from the European Union with which we are normalizing official contacts in Havana are, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Austria, Greece, Portugal and Sweden. We are meeting today with the ambassadors of these countries here in Havana or with the Chargés d´affaires, should the Ambassador be temporarily out of our country, to inform that as from this moment, official contacts of the Cuban authorities and particularly of the Foreign Ministry with these Embassies are normalized. They will join the Spanish, Belgian and Hungarian ambassadors who were already keeping normal official contacts with the Cuban authorities. That is all I have to inform. |
