Uruguay Screens Cuban 5 Documentary

URUGUAY, September 17, 2007.- As part of the international drive for the release of five Cubans unfairly imprisoned in US since 1998, the Argentinean documentary "En la boca del leon" (In the Lion's Mouth) will be screened in this capital .

The 62-minute film presents the political trial against those men and the double standard of the White House, producer Alejandra Guzzo told Prensa Latina.

Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, universally known as the Five, are currently serving harsh sentences from 15 years to double life imprisonment for having infiltrated terrorist groups working in Miami.

"The Five," stated Guzzo, "were victims of irregular trials within the same contradictory laws that allow and approve, among other things, humiliation and torture."

The world campaign for their freedom started September 12, just after nine years of unjust imprisonment, and will end October 8, date that marks the 40th anniversary of the death in battle of Che Guevara.

Uruguay, as almost all countries of the world, is carrying out several activities in solidarity with those who have been proclaimed Heroes of the Republic of Cuba.
