New Web Page in the United States Dedicated to the Family of the Cuban Five

CUBA, March 12, 2008.- On March 8th, in commemoration of International Women's Day, the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five dedicated its new page www.thecuban5.org to the families of Gerardo Hernández, René González, Ramon Labañino, Fernando González, and Antonio Guerrero. And especially to the women of these families, who have been in the forefront of the struggle for the freedom of their loved ones and the right to visit them in US prisons.

The page will serve as a tool inside the United States to let the public know about the case, with emphasis on the inalienable right of the families to have regular unimpeded visits. Pages on the new site include information about the denial of visas to Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva and the creation of the new International Commission for the Right of Family Visits. The webpage will also have updated news, biographies of the Five, explanation of the case, media coverage and voices of support from human rights organizations and personalities from around the world.

The homepage displays portraits of the Five and their families. It also makes a call to people to write letters to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and US Attorney General Michael Mukasey with sample letters. The page is currently in English but in the near future will be translated into Spanish. (Cubaminrex-RHC).
