Cuba’s Solidarity with Grenada Appreciated.

GRENADA, 28 September 2010.- Peggy Netfield, Co-President of the Grenada-Cuba Friendship Association appreciated Cuba’s solidarity with the Caribbean island, at an interview in the program “Spice Morning” of the Grenadian TV.

The also member of the  Organizing Committee of the Solidarity with Cuba Week taking place in this country, stressed that Cubans have assisted Grenada in various economic and social areas, including the Eye-Care Miracle Mission Programme, thanks to which 1654 Grenadian citizens were operated on free of charge between 2007 and 2008.

Peggy added that since 2008 the “Yes, I Can” Literacy Teaching Programme is being implemented on the Caribbean nation, under which 367 Grenadians have graduated so far.

Finally, Netfield pointed out that there are always talks about the construction of the “Maurice Bishop” International Airport by Cubans, which is certainly an extraordinary work, but Cuba’s cooperation with Grenada goes beyond all sectors of Grenada’s economic and social life.
