Congress of Solidarity with Cuba Opens in Bolivia.

BOLIVIA, October 2, 2010.-  The 10 Congress of Solidarity with Cuba opened Saturday in the Bolivian city of Oruro, as part of the international campaign to free the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters imprisoned in the United States since 1998.

Participants to the two-day event will urge for the lifting of the US blockade on Cuba, a policy that has been in place for the past 48 years.

According to event organizers, attending the event are members of Bolivian Solidarity Movement with Cuba, Bolivian alumni in Cuba and Cuban and Venezuelan cooperators.

At the closing of Saturday’s session, Congress participants would have decided on a new solidarity movement executive board and on the venue for the next congress. The event will wrap up with the approval of a Declaration of Solidarity with Cuba, Bolivia and Latin America.

The opening ceremony conducted in the tradition of the Aymara tribe was chaired by Cuban Ambassador to Bolivia Rafael Dausa and other officials of the Cuban Embassy in that country. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
