National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba Concluded in Mexico.
CUBA, March 14, 2011.- The Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba concluded its sixteenth national conference with a unanimous demand for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the U.S. and the immediate lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
The event, which was held at the “Universidad Obrera de Mexico” or the ¨Workers´ University of Mexico,¨ also called on countries around the world to respect the right to sovereignty and self determination of Cuba and the peoples of the world.
In the final declaration, the participants denounced Washington’s interventionist policy, especially throughout Latin America, and highlighted the honourable stand of Cuba before the world, and its social achievements.
The text also criticizes the U.S. government's double standard that encourages illegal immigration, punishes those who trade with Cuba, protects terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles and creates laws like that of the Helms Burton and Torricelli.
At the closing ceremony, the participants reaffirmed their determination to continue fighting in defense of the Cuban Revolution and conveyed a message of greeting to the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, scheduled to be held next April. (Cubaminrex - RHC)
