Officially launched focus chapter in Free State province.
FREE STATE, SOUTH AFRICA, January 31, 2011.- The Friends of Cuba Society (FOCUS) chapter in the Free State province was officially launched last January 29 at Parys municipality in the presence of hundreds of its members.
The Ambassador of Cuba, Angel Villa, the Secretary General of the National Leadership of FOCUS, and its National Deputy Secretary General, Chris Mathlako and Clever Banganayi respectively, attended the event, as well as some officials from the Embassy of Cuba.
During his speech, the Ambassador of Cuba, Angel Villa highlighted the importance of the solidarity movement with Cuba in the world and particularly the work that FOCUS has been developing in South Africa. Likewise, the Ambassador referred to the current situation in Cuba and the process of updating its economic model conducted by the Communist Party and he also gave detailed information about the case of the Cuban Five and emphasize in the necessity of adding impetus to the actions of support to the Cuban Five across South Africa.
The leadership of the new FOCUS Chapter is head by Cde. Girtz Lenin Nketu, member of the Communist Party other district leaders of the organization, and the Secretary General of the Veterans Association in the province.
With the launching of the Free State FOCUS chapter, the organization is already present in the nine provinces of South Africa. Last December was created in Port Elizabeth, the Eastern Cape FOCUS chapter.
