Salvadorians to Lead Actions in Solidarity with Cuba.

CUBA, February 22, 2011.- El Salvador's city of Santa Ana will be the venue for several ativities organized by the Solidarity-with-Cuba Committee of San Salvador to demand the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the U.S. and the end of the almost -50-year-old U.S. economic, financial and trade blockade against the island.

In a meeting held in Santa Ana, 70 Km west of San Salvador members of the organization agreed to hold a conference to denounce the case of the Cuban Five who have been unfairly jailed since 1998, Prensa Latina reported.

They agree as well to lead marches to mark Cuban historical dates related with Jose Marti, Antonio Maceo, Ernesto (Che) Guevara and including the assault on the Moncada garrison, among other important events.

Cuban diplomatic attaches Armando Briñis and Reinaldo Rodriguez thanked the Salvadorians for the gesture of support of Cuba.

Members of the Salvadorian Committee made up of the group Retazos de la Memoria Historica and Andes 21 de Junio Teachers Associations and university students climbed earlier this month to the top of the Tecana hill from where they condemned the U.S. blockade and claimed the release of the Cuban Five.

El Salvador’s support of Cuba was also expressed by the country’s Vice President Salvador Sanchez Ceren in the closing session of the third national conference of solidarity with Cuba held in the capital of the nation. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba El Salvador-Cuban News Agency)
