Uruguayans Pay Tribute to Julio Antonio Mella.

HAVANA, Cuba, January 10 (acn) Over 100 Uruguayans paid tribute on Monday to Julio Antonio  Mella at the international camp named after him, located in the municipality of Caimito, in Artemisa province, southeast of this capital.

On the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of his assassination in Mexico by henchmen of Cuban dictator Gerardo Machado, the Uruguayan brigadistas and workers of the camp recalled the anti-imperialist nature and spirit of struggle of the founder of the University Students Federation and the first Marxist-Leninist Party of Cuba.

Cuban Mayra Pompa, who lives in Uruguay and heads the visiting group, told ACN that the figure of Mella inspires current generations to commit themselves to the continuity of the Revolution.

Pompa demanded the immediate release of the five Cuban heroes imprisoned in the United States for defending Cuba from the terrorist attacks of Florida-based counterrevolutionary groups.

It’s intolerable that Luis Posada Carriles, one of the greatest terrorists of humanity, is now facing a trial only for lying, while The Five, real champions of good, have been incarcerated for 12 years now.

Ingrid Miletic, a university student, condemned the injustice of the United States and expressed her emotion for being able to make one of the dreams of her life come true: to visit the Cuba of Fidel Castro.

The José Artigas Brigade is made up by over 100 Uruguayans, who will participate, until January 21, in a program of activities that includes visits to the provinces of Matanzas, Villa Clara and Cienfuegos. (Cubaminrex- Cuban News Agency)
