Union of mineworkers ratifies his support to Cuba.
SOUTH AFRICA, February 24, 2011-. Cde. Frans Baleni, President of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) ratified the commitment of its organization to continue supporting Cuba in its struggle against the blockade and for the freedom of the Cuban Five.
In a fraternal meeting hold with the Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, H.E Mr. Angel Villa and Counsellor Ibete Fernández, Comrade Baleni highlighted that his organization will continue denouncing the US aggressive policy towards Cuba until the US arrogance allow the cease of the blockade and the return of the Cuban five. He also acknowledged the selfless contribution of Cuba to the African liberation struggle against apartheid as an unrepeatable gesture.
Baleni thanked the formation in Cuba of a group of professionals in mine specialties that today are members of the board in important South Africans mining companies and pronounced himself for the revitalization of the bonds between NUM and the Cuban counterparts.
The exchange took place in the framework of the National Executive Committee meeting of the Union and also served form them to indicate their willingness to participate in the coming May Day in Cuba. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Sudáfrica)
