MPLA Highlights Cuba's role in Angola's Independence.
CUBA, January 8th, 2011.- The solidarity and internationalism of Cuba were instrumental in the civilian and military fields for the proclamation of Angola's independence, the Secretariat of the MPLA Politburo recalled on Friday.
In a message of congratulations on the 52nd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, celebrated on Jan. 1, the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) recognized Cuban aid in defending the territorial integrity of this African country, reports Prensa Latina.
It stressed that the Angolan people will never forget the courageous and generous attitude of the fraternal people of Cuba in difficult times, so that the Secretariat of the Political Bureau of the MPLA pays eternal tribute and deep appreciation to the Cuban fighters who sacrificed themselves for freedom and dignity of the Angolan nation.
That party body extolled, on the other hand, the crucial role of the leaders Fidel and Raul Castro in the development of friendship and solidarity with Angola.
It also stated in the note, which salutes the Communist Party, government and people of Cuba, the Latin American country has demonstrated its ability to resist aggression and threats.
The MPLA held that despite the anachronistic and absurd economic embargo (imposed by the U.S. government), Cuba has never failed to ensure the minimum essentials to its citizens, getting outstanding achievements in scientific and educational domains.
The note further indicated, on behalf of members and supporters of the MPLA, that Cuba, as a model of independence and consistency in its chosen path, is reaffirmed as a respected country worldwide for its enormous capacity for work and sacrifice. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
