Cuba Denounces US Cyberwar

By Ana Luisa Brown
CUBA, 21 March 2011.- In a television program to be broadcast Monday night, Cuba will expose U.S. plans of aggression using new information and communication technology.

"Cyberwar" exposes elements of this new form of aggression as part of the series "Cuba's Reasons," which will be seen after the nightly newscast, Granma newspaper reported.

A week ago one, the program featured a visual artist who revealed U.S. attempts to create a cultural centre for anti-Cuba destabilizing plans.

The revelations were made by the young artist Frank Carlos Vazquez, who became Agent Robin for Cuban State Security, and who described how he was recruited by CIA agents.

In the documentary, Vazquez said he received visits from CIA officials disguised as diplomats of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana.

He was also given a trip to the United States to meet with politicians and representatives of organizations apparently interested in helping the cultural project he was leading in the western province of Pinar del Rio.

Vazquez said he held meetings and working sessions with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and met with various Latino and African-American congress members, he said.

The recruiting was mainly targeted to assembling a group of young artists seeking promotion around the Independent Cultural Center, and at the same time to influence their work and thinking, explained Vazquez.

Douglas Matt Barnes also decided to provide the center with Internet access, he said. Barnes worked in formerly socialist European countries and in Cuba to influence the cultural sector and was involved with counter-revolutionary elements, the documentary reported. (Cubaminrex-PL)
