Cuba rejects inclusion in list of state sponsors of terrorism
CUBA, August 6th, 2010.- Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, strongly rejected the inclusion of Cuba on the list of state sponsors of international terrorism.
He said this announcement relates to one of the most irrational U.S. policies against Cuba and said it would be nice to know why it took three months to reveal a list normally presented in April.
Rodriguez Parrilla said that this is an unfair and deceitful act of hypocrisy, since no country has been victim of terrorism like Cuba, terrorism historically originated and funded in U.S. territory.
He denounced the hypocrite and politically motivated inclusion of Cuba on the mentioned list and said he expected more than a report from the U.S. State Department about the deaths of civilians and other atrocities committed by the U.S. in Afghanistan, gathered in tens of thousands of classified documents that have just been revealed to public opinion.
No country has fought terrorism harder than Cuba, he pointed and said that precisely because of terrorist acts, organized from U.S. territory, three thousand Cubans have died and two thousand have been mutilated.
The authors of these crimes, denounced the Cuban FM, walk freely in Miami, Orlando Bosh, under pardon of former President Bush and the other, Luis Posada Carriles, under protection of the U.S. government, who is being processed in a lengthy trial for minor charges, and not as what it is: a notorious international terrorist.
Rodriguez Parrilla said that in addition to allowing terrorists to wander freely in its territory, the U.S. is the country where five Cuban antiterrorist fighters Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez are unjustly imprisoned, kept away from family and friends.
He said that Gerardo Hernandez recently came out of a punishment cell in solitary confinement, where he was confined for no reason and today has not yet been explained why this measure was taken, which was applied at the time that he exhausted his last legal resource: the Habeas Corpus.
