CHINA, August 17, 2008. Cuba's women volleyball team remain undefeated in its qualifying pool of the XXIX Olympic Games after beating Venezuela this Sunday 3-0 at the Capital Stadium. The first set against the Venezuelans was tight and Cubans won it 25-20, and in the second set they started winning easily but then relaxed and their opponents fought back, thought they finished the set with identical score of 25-20. The South American team started the third set with a better attitude and commanded the game until they were winning 14-11, but the Cubans reacted and ended the set and the game 25-19. This was Cuba’s fifth straight victory and the three-time Olympic champions now will have to face in the next round the winner of the Russia-Serbia game. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
