CANADA, December 8, 2008 – With a reception at the Cuban Embassy in Canada, Cuban and Caribbean diplomats and Canadian officials welcomed the Third Cuba-CARICOM Summit. The activity was opened with words by the Cuban Ambassador, Teresita Vicente who stressed the importance of this historical event that took place in Santiago de Cuba and the strong brotherly ties between Cuba and CARICOM Member States. Likewise, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the historical and courageous Caribbean countries’ support against the hostile U.S. policy of blockade and the imperial attempts to internationally isolate the largest of the Antilles.
