Gtmo Jail Tortures, Crimes vs. Humanity
CUBA, December 11, 2008. Tortures on Thursday at the US naval base in the illegally occupied Cuban territory of Guantanamo resemble crimes against humanity, US pacifist Cindy Sheehan stated in this capital.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the mother of US soldier Casey Sheehan, who died at the age of 24 in Iran, in 2004, demanded immediate closure of the center of tortures in that illegal military enclave.
Sheehan, a US anti-war activist for her constant protests against the war in Iraq, termed abominable the practice of those ordeals, used as a repressive method in the illegal US naval base of Guantanamo, Cuba.
"I traveled to the illegal naval base in January 2007 to demand that my government closed that prison and other similar jails worldwide," she said.
The US activist recalled that she has never used pacifism before, but after the death of his son Casey in April 2004, she raised her conscience, and demanded the end of the military occupation in Iraq.
"I dream that prohibitions on traveling to Cuba and the economic, trade and financial blockade maintained on the Island for years are eliminated in the United States," she stated.
Cindy Sheehan leads her country"s delegation that traveled to Cuba to attend the International Workshop "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights: 60 Years Later," held at Havana"s Conference Center.(Cubaminrex- PL)
