Bolivians Demand an End to U.S. Blockade of Cuba BOLIVIA, October 4, 2008. -- Participants in the eighth Congress of Solidarity with Cuba in Bolivia have demanded the end of the U.S. blockade imposed against Cuba for nearly 50 years. The Chair of the National Coordinating Committee of these movements said that Washington's hostile policy to bend Cuba's will through starvation and disease is doomed. The Congress promoted new actions to demand the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly held in U.S. prisons for ten years now. The meeting is being attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Basilio Gutierrez. A leader of the Bolivarian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, Hugo Ayala, announced that the congress is also an opportunity to highlight Cuban cooperation in health, education and energy.
