CUBA, October 21, 2008. Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque said in Mexico that bilateral relations between Cuba and that central American nation continue to strengthen on the basis of reciprocal respect.

Perez Roque's statement was backed by Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa in a press conference held in Mexico.

The Cuban government official pointed out that his presence in that sister nation is a testimony of respect and friendship towards Mexico’s government, authorities and people, which was reflected in a joint statement issued at the end of a meeting between both foreign ministers, PL news reported.

The signing by Mexico’s Government Secretary, Juan Camilo Mouriño and Foreign Minister Espinosa of a memorandum of understanding to contribute to a legal, safe and ordered migratory flow was considered a clear sign of bilateral willingness  to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

Perez Roque said that the invitation extended to Mexico’s Felipe Calderón to visit Cuba, on behalf of President Raul Castro is also an expression of the advancement of bilateral relations between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa said that her government has highly acknowledged the visit to Mexico by Felipe Perez Roque, in order to expand bilateral links to all possible areas.

Felipe Perez Roque also gave a key lecture on the formation and development of Cuban nationality and on the most recent development in the history of the Cuban Revolution.
