Angie Elizabeth Brooks presided over the United Nations General Assembly from 1969-1970 during the twenty-fourth session, making her, so far, the only woman president of African origin of the Assembly. 

 

Oslo, Norway. - As part of the events organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. from Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, signed a congratulatory message to the people and government of that country, also ratifying the will to work for greater advances in bilateral relations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the indiscriminate bombings against the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip by Israel’s military forces, which have caused more than one hundred deadly casualties, the destruction of infrastructure and heavy economic damage.
