The US intensified the blockade on Cuba when the pandemic broke out in an effort to wreck the Cuban economy and destabilise the country.  Despite these conditions, Cuba was the only country in the region with the capacity to produce its own vaccines to combat Covid-19, and was at the forefront of international solidarity in the times of pandemic. However, the pressure on the economy led to a situation where there have been sporadic protests by some Cubans who have been displaying their dissatisfaction in public.

USA Must Lift the Inhuman Criminal Blockade of Cuba

A section of the people of Cuba are demonstrating on problems created by the US economic blockade.  The Cuban government and the Communist Party of Cuba have reached out to them.

The Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Carmelina Ramirez, was received at the Zimbabwean Foreign Ministry by Ambassador, Lovemore Mazemo, Chief Director for Political Affairs. The meeting was held in a relaxed atmosphere and they exchanged issues on the bilateral agenda. The Zimbabwean official expressed his country's support to the Cuban government.

The "José Martí" Arab-Latin American Solidarity Association and the friends of Cuba in Lebanon, as well as all the free Arab peoples and the entire world, express our total and unlimited internationalist solidarity and our support to the heroic Cuban people in their struggle to defeat this new wave of reactionary attack, and to impose the unjust and brutal economic, commercial and financial blockade.

The Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) and Kenya Cuba Friendship Society (KCFS) condemns in the strongest terms the ongoing attempts by US sponsored individuals who are attempting to stir discontent and destabilisation in Cuba, in a continuation of hostilities against the island nation since its proclamation of the socialist revolution in 1959.

Washington, 14 July 2021. The United States' strategy has failed in its goal of regime change for decades, and it is unlikely to be successful now, according to an article published on the Commondreams website on Wednesday.

Entitled The Hidden Hand of the US Blockade Sparks Cuba Protests, the article states that the brutal economic war against the island for more than 60 years explains the cause of recent events.

Washington, 14 July 2021. The Global Anti-Blockade of Cuba Movement, known as NEMO, on Wednesday condemned any 'soft coup' attempt and attack to Cuba´s sovereignty and also the US government´s stance.

Both food and medicine shortages in Cuba is direct consequence of 62 years of cruel and hostile blockade, according to a statement sent to Prensa Latina by Manuel Tejeda and José Oro, members of NEMO´s board of directors.

Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka receives the Ambassador of Cuba

Sri Lanka July 14, 2021, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Honorable Dinesh Gunawardena received the Ambassador of Cuba, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido.

In the cordial meeting, were highlighted the historical relations of friendship and cooperation existing between the two countries, as well as the will to continue strengthening them.

Havana, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held the United States Government responsible for the consequences of stirring up violence in the island.

While denouncing in a press conference the campaign promoted from American soil through social media to promote riots, he warned that such irresponsible conduct could have negative implications for the area, and even harm national interest on the US.

Havana, July 13. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, said at a press conference that the US government identified # COVID19 as an opportunity to reinforce the blockade and its aggression against our country.

Referring to the riots that occurred last Sunday, he affirmed that it has been a deliberate, cruel, and opportunistic attempt to take advantage of the conditions of a pandemic to try to strangle our economy.

"We are here because the streets belong to Fidel, because the streets of Cuba belong to revolutionaries." This was the phrase we heard the loudest walking along several Havana avenues Sunday afternoon, July 11, when an entire people came out to defend their Revolution.

We heard it, for example, in front of the Capitol, seat of the National Assembly of People's Power, and along Prado down to the waterfront Malecon. We heard it up to Belascoaín, and along Carlos III, where neighbors gathered, waving flags and, above all, ideas.

In his Twitter account, the Cuban Foreign Minister stated that in the contact he denounced the increase in the aggression of the United States against this Antillean nation.

The head of the Cuban Mission in Vietnam, Orlando Hernández Guillén, presented today the letters that accredit him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Indochinese country.

In delivering the official documents to Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the special relations of brotherhood, companionship and mutual trust between the two nations, promoted by the historical leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.
